Battery graphite

Battery graphite is a crystalline graphite, which is intended for the production of active components of alkaline batteries.

Three grades of graphite are produced in industry:

GAK1 – for batteries for special purposes;

GAK2, GAK3 – for the manufacture of masses for graphite anti-friction products from non-ferrous metals and alkaline batteries.

According to the chemical composition, graphite is carbon with a small percentage of impurities. The higher the carbon content (85% – 98%), the better the quality of the granite and, as a rule, the higher its cost. In battery graphite, the ash content, the content of chlorine, iron, and moisture ions are controlled. The high electrical and thermal conductivity of the material, along with its high melting point, allows it to be actively used as a raw material for batteries.

In appearance, battery graphite is a gray solid that ranges from light silver to black. Dirty to the touch. Graphite can stick to hard surfaces in a thin film.

Graphite is packed in multilayer paper bags weighing no more than 30 kg, or in special containers for bulk cargo. Product labeling must contain information about the name and brand of the product, the name of the manufacturer, the date of manufacture, batch number, net weight, with the obligatory application of the “Afraid of dampness” sign.

grades: GAK1, GAK2, GAK3

In industry, battery graphite is obtained in the process of beneficiation of natural graphite ores and metallurgical waste containing graphite.
